Hussong’s Print E-mail
Written by Chuba Obinyelaku on Tuesday May 04, 2010

Here we go again. Our taste-testing team was given the grueling task of sampling some “casual” Mexican food at the legendary Hussong’s Cantina, located in the shopping area of The Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino. Finally a restaurant that sets itself apart from the competition, for where else can you find a place with an atmosphere that warms you to the bone as much as its food? With such a great display of character from the staff, able to adapt to the customer’s every need, it is safe to say that in reference to Hussong’s, “A family that works well together stays together.” With an array of different appetizers and distinctive main courses, you will find yourself hoping that the meal will never end. Between Chef Noe Alcala and his staff serving great meals and the Mariachi band playing for the crowd, Hussong’s strikes a good balance between food and entertainment.

Dos Caminos Print E-mail

It took us by surprise how fantastic the food tasted at Dos Caminos. Located in the Palazzo Las Vegas, this Mexican restaurant features cuisine that is at the top of our list of reasons why we love this resort hotel and casino. The restaurant offers many choices, including signature dishes such as Grilled and Marinated Skirt Steak with Frijoles Borrachos, Chilean Sea Bass Veracruzano, and Lamb Shank Barbacoa. Dos Caminos is also known for its brunch menu, which includes the Mexican Benedict and Dos Caminos Rancheros. The mere taste of this establishment’s tortilla chips and salsa will foreshadow that of the excellent-quality food being prepared for your table. And in the end, the made-to-order guacamole said it all.

Le Reve at The Wynn, Las Vegas Print E-mail

For those who come to Las Vegas mainly for the feel and to observe the fibre of the casino lights and the city’s fabulous entertainment, do not miss Le RÍve, but make sure it’s the last show you see. No excuses, or you will regret it! The show, exclusively at the Wynn Las Vegas, is a spectacle of delight with a well-balanced combination of acrobats, dancers and synchronized swimmers who perform their craft on the ground, in the water, and up in the air well above an amazed audience—not to mention a fantastic combination in dÈcor, combined with dancing water fountains and brilliantly dispensed colors. The entire show is non-stop action with hair-raising acrobatics, underwater routines, and full dance and acrobatic performances. And all of this comes with a little touch of comedy that loosens up the tense concentration of the spellbound patrons. The show ends with a spectacular surprise, leaving the audience completely impressed.

The Palazzo Las Vegas Print E-mail

This luxurious and sophisticated resort hotel and casino stands fifty stories tall and towers above the Las Vegas Strip, with a convenient location next to the Venetian. Each suite is spacious and comfortable, from the linens to the dual sinks, making it a home away from home. Sunken living rooms add to the already elegantly designed dÈcor, creating a separation from the bedroom. And with three televisions in each suite, you won't miss a play if you’re watching the big game or a double-cross if you’re tuned into your favorite soap. If relaxation is what you’re craving, The Canyon Ranch Spa is conveniently located in the Palazzo, offering everything from ultra-nourishing cocoons to ritual baths. After you have been pampered and all done up, it’s time to dress.

The Shoppes at The Palazzo features over sixty international boutiques and stores with a wide selection of the essentials, as well as the non-essentials. Let’s be real—it is Vegas.

Founded in 1948, in Baldwin Park, California, IN-N-OUT Burger is definitely on my list of foods that I cannot do without!  Their easy-to-navigate menu has not changed since their debut.  It is basically burgers, fries, and drinks made fresh to order.  The fries are cut right before your eyes.  For those with a big appetite, their mouth-watering burgers can be ordered as a double-double (double meat/double cheese), 3x3's or 4x4's.  Located off the Vegas strip, you can’t miss the big yellow arrow pointing you towards burger heaven.  Did I tell you that their classic milkshakes are made from REAL ice cream?

Blue Man Group Print E-mail
Written by Shai McLeod on Thursday February 11, 2010

Blue Man Group takes an interesting approach to finding the irony and commonality between things that we overlook in our daily lives, by using everyday common objects found in the average household, to create a single sound.  Those single sounds are used in a combination of ways to orchestrate a symphony, of melodic percussion.  Blue Man Group personifies the role, of how all things small, can become part of something bigger.

I found Blue Man Group’s use of PVC piping, to put together a percussion band, quite interesting.  It plays on the human nature of creativity and socialization; a tribal skill deeply embedded in all of us.  The comic relief and crowd participation was all a part of the fantasy that lingers in the back of everyone’s mind.  They bring light to all of the things that we normally think of, but never say.  I found it to be quite funny as their quirky antics were challenged with a carefree attitude and over the top happiness.

KA - Circue Du Soliel Print E-mail
Written by Shai McLeod on Thursday February 11, 2010

KA, an innovative fusion of acrobatics and theatrics, is a refreshingly unique way of storytelling.  Cirque du Soleil is at the forefront of pairing up circus acts, with exceptionally talented individuals, has once again pushed the limits of expectation.  From some of the most unusual sources, they brought together an emotionally connecting spectacular story.

The use of three-dimensional stages brings the timeless conflict between good and evil to an all new, heightened level.  The story about a mythical royal family, being torn apart by an evil overlord, in a magical land, connects with the audience through ways of appealing towards the most inner feelings.  Love, camaraderie, and hope; engages people as the story develops into a tale of emotion and power.
