It’s a well-known fact that January is the busiest month for fitness facilities. After all the turkey, chocolates, and egg nog, it seems only appropriate that starting on New Years Day, we all resolve to fit back into those skinny jeans... and decide to hit the gym. Our intentions are great, the motivation is there, and we remain committed to shedding those pounds... all for a whopping 3 weeks. After that, suiting up in our sweats, commuting to the gym, only to make a date with that treadmill, just becomes more and more work. The solution? Witty Workouts. Or, in other words, laughing yourself lean. It’s a new concept that combines fitness and comedy, and is brought to us by creators Brendan Fox and Chris “TT” Allin. “Witty Workouts is a fitness revolution, getting people to realize that getting fit does not have to be a chore,” says Allin. “It is a mash up of trainers, comedians, and innovative theme workouts (which include games and prizes), that will get you great fitness results while you laugh yourself silly.”

Allin and Fox both have strong backgrounds in fitness, nutrition, therapy, as well as - you guessed it - comedy. Fox came up with the concept as a means to make working out less grueling, and more fun, while incorporating unique themes and games to exercising. Some of their themes include: Wizard World, Meow Muscle, and Monkey Business Bootcamp. The team of fitness gurus work very hard to ensure an unforgettable experience. “We are always revamping Witty Workouts, to keep it at the top of its game,” says Allin. “Not to mention all the wigs and costumes we have to make or find. I have personally sewn together a handful of costumes, the day of the big workout.”

In addition to the hats, masks, and bear-paw mittens, these workouts also feature aspects of yoga, pilates, cardiovascular training, and more. Bootcamps promise a full-body workout, amidst a supportive and encouraging team of instructors and learners, and most of all... a great laugh! Best of all, the workouts are modified to accommodate both beginner and advanced learners, so there really is no excuse to stay home on the couch, no matter how inviting it may be. Allin says he hopes that other companies will also start incorporating the fun part of life into their structuring. “Being healthy is a serious matter. How you get there can be as exciting and fun as you want it to be.”

Witty Workouts currently offers bootcamps in Whitby, Ontario, as well as on the Danforth and in the Beaches, at “Sugarfoot” - a fitness & dance studio.
